We are changing from working for an agency to working direct for the same school. So in effect we are not changing our place of work.

Do we still need to transfer our F.E.C???

When should we do this and how long do they give you to make the change. We will be away for 1 month in between before we can Transfer it?

    kashenko:

You will probably need to transfer your FEC to the school as your employer has changed.

In your city, (I know who you arewink although I don't think we have met) you now need to provide tax payment records for the previous year. Tax records arenot networked so you will need to go to the office responsible for your tax. It is probably the East District office - near Number One Middle School in the side street beside the Entertainment Centre. Go directly to the 3rd floor. The "Help Desk" on the first floor will tell you that they can't help you....I spent a day running back and forth to find the right place.

FEC renewal took me about 3 weeks. They have moved - as I discovered - and are now in the Entertainment Centre government super-centre...Entry is near Just Me and Mine and Nancy's Wine Bar.

Good Luck....you are highly thought of by your students in that famous school.

    That's good news. Thanks.

How long should it take to register F.E.C with a new employer?

Do you know what other paper work needs to be submitted to the new employer?

Yes, you can exit and reenter China, if you have valid Resident permit.

FEC is different thing, and it doesn't really apply to validity of RP, if RP isn't expired/canceled.

When RP is expired/canceled, cops usually (must) grant 30-days L or 30-days extension of RP, which should be used as time for your new employer to get new FEC, new Medical, and other things on your new place of work. Other thing you can do with 30-days extension is travel around China, and exit (return home), before expiration.

When you change your place of work, and get new FEC, employer must take you to PSB, where cops will change only data, they hold on your RP (as place of work), but not validity of RP.

Understand what a residence permit really is and what it does. Once you are issued one, in reality your visa is ignored from then on, and the residence permit takes over from your visa, and even if it is not one, it acts as a visa.

Now, if an airline clerk tells you the visa expired, you just point out to the residence permit and explain to him/her that that is your current visa. You should have no big problm getting on a plane, just maybe what I mentioned above, and how to overcome it.

But you may have another problem in your hands. You did not say why you got the residence permit. If by reason of employment or as a student, and you are no longer working or attending a school, then if the local PSB was notified, your residence permit could have been cancelled without your knowledge.

    Good luck to you.

    Yes, you can.

A residence permit is a visa. It has a visa number. While it is valid, you can exit and enter China as you please.
