    Is this our final hour?

I wanted to write about how great a clothes shop UniQlo is. If you can accept that H&M is child of Western influence, then Uniqlo is a child of Japanese influence. In my many days shopping there wth Mrs Scandinavian, I saw very few foreigners. What I did see delighted my senses. Uniqlo appears to get it right - well organized aisles, polite and serivce minded staff, clean changing rooms and nice lounge music at a tolerable level - without the apparent drawbacks that we so commonly encounter in clothing stores in China. I wanted to write about this, that is, until yesterday when I went there for the first time in a while. Now instead of an endorsement, I am telling you that I am slightly annoyed.

What met my eyes was a shop, albeit still in the same location, same walls. I found they have squezzed in more shelves, piled up more product but worst of all. The relaxing lounge music was now loud pop, in some speakers even distorted, or at least I hope that is the case or The Swiffer had a bad day when she recorded the track they were blasting into my face.

Has your Uniqlos also gone downhill ?

Uniqlos here as well, but not quite effected by that "event", as it's cheap price there with good quality.

I don't know about the specific chain store you mention, but was it busier on this visit than previously?

I have a mate who opened a franchised corner shop. He paid for a franchise then done everything he could to avoid buying product from the company.

Maybe that is what happen with your Uniqlos.

    Adapt or die.

The retail where I live has suffered massively from online shopping. As have western high streets. But the old style "floor to rafters" Chinese shops are surviving for now.

Good to see in my opinion. Because in Scotland it was the new "trendy" minimalist shops that put the good old fashioned shops out of business in the 90's.

    cate:

With the difference that probably in Scotland traditional shops were selling craftsmanship goods while here are selling just cheap utter crap.
